My sister brought her daughter and son to visit their Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Bubba this summer. It was a nice visit. I, Uncle Bubba, always enjoy seeing them. I don’t get to see them nearly enough, so I very much enjoy when they visit. Family is important to me.
My niece had been doing some research on things to do in Georgia, and found something that interested her. She wanted to visit the fashion museum at the Savannah College of Art and Design campus in Atlanta. So it was written, so it was done.
I drove my niece, mother and sister up to Atlanta for a nice day trip. We stopped at The Varsity for lunch before going to the museum. I really enjoy the Varsity once in a while. I don’t think my niece was too impressed. Oh well, the grown ups enjoyed the meal.
The museum was pretty nice. They were doing some work changing an exhibit, which was a little unfortunate. We missed out on some exhibits, but we got a discount on the tickets.
I’m not sure how much my niece enjoyed the museum. She said she enjoyed it, and I hope she did. She made her way through it quite quickly, not spending much time examining the exhibits. And she grumbled at having her pictures taken. I tried not to infringe on her space too much, but I also really wanted at least a few photos of her here.
I wonder if I enjoyed the museum more than she did. I’m no fashion expert by any means, but I do enjoy artistic expression greatly. And the outfits were very impressive and artistic. The museum was set up and presented very well. The lighting was very well done, and was conducive to some good photographs of the exhibits.
After leaving the museum I took everyone to Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta. They had never been, and I thought it would be a nice stop. My niece was less than excited about it, but mother and sis thought it sounded good. We spent a little while walking around and enjoying the atmosphere. Now they can say they have been there, done that.
