A little bit about me.
My name is Craig Carter, and I love photography. I got the shutterbug early in life when my parents gave me an Instamatic camera and a roll of film. I didn’t get the chance to take many pictures as a child due to the expense, but I got hooked anyway. I later inherited a 35mm Minolta Maxxum 7000 when my Grandfather passed away. I wore that camera out. I spent a lot of time and money learning and practicing as much as I could. I have some very fond memories of that time, and a deep reverence for my Grandfather for rekindling my love of photography.
I love the technical aspects and art involved in nailing the proper exposure. I love to play with depth of field and shutter speed for each individual image to create different looks and feels. I love creating pictures that are pleasing to both the eye and the mind. I love verticals, and I love horizontals. I love symmetry, equilibrium and consistency. I also love asymmetry and chaos. I love to play with color and lighting to create a visual impression. I love capturing emotion and the moments that make up our lives. I love how photography can take an everyday scene, moment or event and boil down its essence in a way that can transcend the original, and breath new life into a memory.
I also love to edit and retouch photos using state of the art software like Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. Taking a good photo and making it a great image is very satisfying. Bringing out little details, highlighting a focal point, color correcting and balancing an image can make a big difference in the story a photo tells to its viewer.
I have two bachelor's degrees. One in Communications/New Media. The other in Business/Production and Operations Management. I have worked in media and broadcasting for a long time. Now I am working on something I love, Carterpix. I want to bring you the pictures you want.
